Dear Everyone --
I share everyone's frustration in the extreme difficulty we seem to have
in finding a date for our next meeting. UGH!
Based on the feedback, it appears that more people cannot make it on
Saturdays than Fridays. I still need to hear from 5 people (whom I have
contacted separately), and that is a significant enough number to change
the balance.
At the moment, it is looking like April 11, April 18, May 9, or May 23.
I have asked the remaining 5 to respond immediately, so I have high
hopes of letting you know the final date in the next day or so. Sarah
& Jackie -- I know you are not available most of those dates. I don't
what else we can do. There is NO date when everyone is available.
It looks like everyone is agreed on Aug. 16 for the summer meeting, so
Dee, please go ahead and see if the site is available for us on that
date. If not, I will review the responses to determine a 2nd choice for
a summer date.
For those who missed our first meeting, your predecessors were asked to
contact you and meet with you separately to provide you with your Board
handbook, and to help get you up to speed on what you should be doing.
If that has not happened, please let me know one-on-one (don't reply to
the whole list), and we will work on getting you more plugged in.
Although this meeting business has been less organized than I would have
wished, huge kudos to all of you for the good work accomplished in the
last couple months:
- Thanks to Elizabeth and Lynn for another terrific issue of our
newsletter!!
- Thanks to the whole crew who are representing EENC at the various
Earthday events, and coordinating among yourselves to get materials and
literature handed off.
- Thanks to Sarah for moving forward on the regional display boards, and
everyone who gave input.
- Thanks to Dee for the great organization and big-picture leadership on
the conference -- we've had some valuable discussions that are going to
make the conference better than ever.
- Thanks to folks who have helped on lobbying for EE funding and NCLI.
On the national level, the letters to the Appropriations Chairs for
restoring the EPA funding for the Office of EE secured good levels of
support, and NAAEE leaders are feeling positive that that funding will
be restored. We did our part!
I will let you know the final date for our next meeting before the end
of this week (what a process!). Please submit Board reports to Yazmin,
and hours of service to Shelby. Remember to correlate items on your
Board report to items in our strategic plan as much as possible. The
Strategic Plan is in your handbook.
If you have any questions, please contact me. Man, things are moving
fast!!! We have a great team.
-- Diane
