[Eenc-board] 2011 NAAEE Conference "Promises"

Dear EENC Board Members,

In case you missed the EENC Board meeting on Saturday, you missed the announcement that the NAAEE Board on Friday, August 15, accepted our invitation and approved Raleigh as the site for the 2011 NAAEE Conference on October 11-16, 2011!  Please put this date on your calendars--if you have a 2011 calendar!

So, as the hosts we need to start thinking about that conference and making lists!  (And we have 3 other state conferences before that one to plan and implement!)  I'm attaching our letter of intent sent to NAAEE Executive Director, Brian Day in February, and the information from NAAEE on the division of responsibilities and benefits between NAAEE and EENC.  Please read those documents so you have a framework for thinking about the conference and what role you and others might want to play.

This is no longer a secret, but Elizabeth is working on a news release and possibly a news conference announcement, which you will hear more about later--after we are able to gather some details to "announce".  So, please don't send out your own announcement, until after our official EENC announcement.  Then, of course, we will want you to forward our EENC announcement far and wide!

I'll also be notifying the 27 people/organizations who wrote letters of support, and will copy the Board on that letter.

At our Board meeting on Saturday, the Board voted to use our 2009 EENC Conference in Raleigh as a "dry run" of the 2011 proposed Field Experiences, so we can get our members to evaluate them and offer suggestions for 2011.  In addition to getting feedback, this strategy will give our members the chance to experience the field trips prior to 2011, since we will likely all be too busy in 2011 to go on the field trips!  

We will also work at our 2009 EENC Conference to finalize our 2011 Committees, and start the serious planning work of inviting 1500 people from around the world to our state.

Meanwhile, please support Dee in getting our 2008 EENC Conference put together as our biggest member benefit of the year!  Last I heard, Dee still needs an Auction Chair and some fundraisers!
