[Esip-ejournal] some quick thoughts

I think it is important to have some discussion of affiliation with one or
more professional societies. I don't know that scientists would have
a strong motivation to publish here if it doesn't get them professional
recognition. Ditto for those of us doing IT research. From my standpoint,
I'd be much more interested in submitting papers for publication at ACM
or IEEE conferences, since they are peer-reviewed, archival publications.
The esip journal does not strike me as a place I'd like to send papers,
since I don't get professional credit. To put it another way, without the
professional society imprimatur, the esip journal seems to me to be
just another form of "grey literature".
