Dear Friends and Members of the Triangle Folk Music Society,

This is a reminder of our up-coming June concert. We have the Buckerettes
as our featured performers on Saturday, June 11. With a group name like
that we hope you read on to learn more.

Who are the Buckerettes?

The Buckerettes are Deb Criss, Roberta Greenspan and Robin Cape...three
cowgirls out to help round up the wayward herd. The Buckerettes were born
last summer. The story goes like this: Roberta Greenspan and her fiddle came
back into town after traveling the world, and got together with her friend
of many years, long time Asheville musician/guitarist Deb Criss (Grandmother
Time, Crimes of Fashion). They asked Robin Cape (Red Mango, Raven Moon Band)
to join in with her brand new toy, the stand-up bass. Add to this
instrumental blend the joy of their voices blended in sweet harmony and
whaddya know . . . the sounds that so naturally emerged let them know that
something special really was happening here. Why, the Buckerettes! What
could be more fun than reviving those favorite old songs - standard jazz,
country western and a smattering of everything else. Perhaps even more
important are the many new songs they've written that 'buck' the system in
many ways (and we all know there's a whole lotta buckin' going on this
year)... on personal and planetary levels, in serious and silly ways, and
always with heart. And the name "The Buckerettes" always elicits the
response that truly reflects what these three modern cowgirls are really all
about... FUN
