Please join us for a concert by the Weems-Gerrard Band featuring country
music as it was in the 20s, 30s and 40s and even the (very, very early
50s).  Music that is soulful, sometimes raw, sometimes tender and always
with the edge that made the songs of those times memorable.

Additional Information:

The members of the Weems-Gerrard Band live in and around Durham and specialize in
pure, American country music featuring the nail-you-to-the-wall solos
and duet harmonies of Alice Gerrard and Mark Weems.  You can expect to
hear the great old ballads and love songs of country music, as well as
some original pieces written in that special style.

Alice Gerrard is one of our most well known Triangle area artists in the
Old Time-American Roots genre.  She coordinates and performs each year
at the Traditional Music Stage at Merle Fest, founded the Old-Time
Herald Magazine, plays on the international circuit and has over 20
recordings and two documentary films to her credit.

Mark Weems plays rhythm guitar and is known for his amazing vocal
prowess.  He is a founding member of the Stillhouse Bottom Band.  In
addition to being a stunning singer, he is also an up-and-coming
songwriter already well known in local traditional music circles.
