Hi Folks,
I wanted to let everyone know about a couple of free musical events this month.
Tonight you can go to the Broad Street Café in Durham to hear Laurence Sugarman:

performance 8:30p
Laurence Sugarman -
accomplished fiddle and banjo player will be preforming with his wonderfully talented partner Lauri Hunt on bass. Laurence will begin the evening with a short tutorial on his unique banjo style and then will play a couple of sets. Check out his website to hear his licks http://www.laurencesugarman.com

The other event is just around the corner from the Broad Street Café at the North Carolina School of Science and Math
World-renowned mandolinist and folk artist Mike Marshall is performing at NCSSM as part of the school's Mary Duke Biddle Fine Arts Weekend. Marshall will be performing a world premiere of his first-ever mandolin concerto with NCSSM's string orchestra and jazz ensemble on Saturday evening, May 19, at 7 p.m. The concert is FREE to the public. Then, on Sunday morning, May 20, at 11, NCSSM will be hosting a jam session with Marshall. Everyone is welcome to come, have a cup of coffee and jam with Mike.
The concert is put on by a grant from the Mary Duke Biddle Foundation and we just want to spread the word. It should be a fantastic weekend of some great folk music. Here's a flyer with more details: http://www.ncssm.edu/welcome/docs/marydukebiddle_2007.jpg
I hope to see you at some of these events.
