First In Families of North Carolina presents: Peter Lang in concert, Jan.
5th at the Broad Street Café in Durham at 8pm. Lang's music falls into the
American Primitive category with its traditional folk and Blues roots and is
reminiscent of Leo Kottke as well as his former teacher John Fahey. Opening
acts for the concert will be Peter Holsapple and Sweet By and By.
An expressive guitar virtuoso and Grammy nominee, Lang has returned to the
music scene after a twenty year hiatus. During this time he raised a
daughter with developmental challenges, ran an animation studio, and
produced films and commercials. A native Minnesotan, Lang currently tours
both coasts and Europe, and his two recent albums have received critical
acclaim.
This performance will benefit First In Families of NC. FIFNC will use the
proceeds to assist families and individuals with disabilities to build
stronger connections within their communities. FIFNC works to eliminate
isolation and loneliness for people with disabilities, and helps family
members achieve peace of mind regarding the future of their loved one once
they are gone.
For interested musicians, Peter Lang will also hold a Master's Guitar
Workshop the day after the concert (on Jan. 6th) at 1pm, also at Broad
Street Café. Space for the Masters workshop is limited.
Concert tickets are on sale for $13 in advance, or $15 at the door, and
include an assortment of delicious hors d'oeuvres. Doors open at 7:15pm.
Tickets for the guitar workshop and concert combination are $25. The Broad
Street Café is accessible, and serves a full assortment of wines and beer.
Tickets can be purchased online at www.fifnc.org Click on "Donate."
Please come enjoy this concert and support the full participation of people
