TFMS Concert Announcement List folk-announce at rtpnet.org

First, you probably already know that the Festival for the Eno is this weekend.
On Friday, Jeff Warner will be playing. Alice and I hosted Jeff in our living room a few years ago for a fine concert. Jeff's a great singer with a tremendous knowledge of American traditional ballads. His parents were folk song collectors, travelling through North Carolina and New England and recording many ballads that might otherwise have been lost.

Information about the Eno Festival can be found at: www.eno.org<http://www.eno.org>

A couple of great house concerts are coming up this month:

Angelina Carberry and Martin Quinn July 10
John Doyle July 26

These are all fantastic Irish musicians that you really need to hear.

Details follow.

*_ANGELINA CARBERRY & MARTIN QUINN

_all the way from County Galway Thur., July 10, 2008; 7:30 PM *

_*Angelina Carberry*
<http://celticgrooves.homestead.com/CG_Carberry_Angelina.html>_ born in Manchester in the late 70's into a County Longford family steeped in traditional music, it was not long before Angelinas' interest and keen ear for the music quickly developed. Starting on the tin whistle she soon moved on to the banjo, following in the footsteps of her father Peter and her grandfather Kevin. Angelina has since developed a highly personal style with an exciting rhythm that captivates anyone who is lucky enough to hear it. In 1998 she moved to Galway and very quickly established herself on the local music scene. Soon after, she recorded a duet album *with her father Peter* <http://celticgrooves.homestead.com/CG_Carberry_Peter.html> on accordion. She has since gone on to record a duet CD with her husband Martin, and a solo offering. Her sound is at times dark and earthy ...
measured, unstoppable, and deadly accurate.

*Martin Quinn* comes from a family of musicians and tellers of traditional stories, with his roots in County Armagh. At an early age Martin showed an interest in traditional music and especially that of the accordion. He took up the instrument in 1981 and soon developed a highly refined style. He is regarded as one of Ireland's finest exponent's of the button-box. In 1996 Martin received his diploma from the Irish Department of Education and Comhaltas Ceoltir Eireann for teaching the 2 row button accordion. He began his professional career as a musician in 1994. His left hand harmonics complement Angelina's playing perfectly.

House Concert, July 10th, featuring Angelina Carberry and Martin Quinn

Location: 3222 Henderson Field Rd., Mebane, NC (actually on the Saxapahaw border, about 12 miles west of Chapel Hill, NC).
