Hi TRTC Team,

As some of you know, the Board and other volunteers of the Triangle
Rails-to-Trails Conservancy <http://www.triangletrails.org>will be
helping the Carolina Tarwheels Bicycle Club with their big event,
Bikefest 2005 <http://www.tarwheels.org/bikefest/index.html>

The Tarwheels have been major supporters and contributors of the
American Tobacco Trail over the years, providing both funds and people
to help build the American Tobacco Trail.

Notice that the American Tobacco Trail is mowed from Massey Chapel Road
south to the Northeast Creek trestle? Thank the Carolina Tarwheels for a
generous grant to purchase that lawn mower, and thank Cotten Tyler for
doing the mowing.

Carolina Tarwheels members have helped at trail workdays, have written
letters and called politicians and staff, as well as done the many other
things that have helped to make the ATT a reality.

Thus, we need to help them with their annual fundraising and community
service project.

*This is a call for more volunteers* to help with a TRTC organized rest
stop to be set up at Walnut Grove United Methodist Church in northern
Orange County, We need at least four or five more folks to help out with
this.

If you can help, please contact or send David Connelly
<mailto:pedaling at mindspring.com> your name, email address, T-shirt size,
and cell phone # if available.

What to bring:
Food trays, cutting boards, knives, ice chests, drink coolers (I have 4
already), pail/bucket, truck/van, cell phone.

If you don't have any of this, we need you anyway. We'll manage one way
or another.

For extra credit, baked cookies or zucchini bread are always appreciated by
hungry cyclists.

Our schedule on Aug. 13:

7:45 a.m. Meet me at the Rec Center, on Hassell St. @ W. Tryon St., 2
blocks west of downtown Hillsborough, to load provisions into trucks/vans.

8:15 a.m. Drive out to Walnut Grove UMC, 7215 Walnut Grove Church Rd.,
Hurdle Mills (actually northern Orange Co.), set up canopy, tables, fruits,
drinks.

9:15 a.m. Expect first cyclists to arrive.

12:45 p.m. Clean church's rest rooms, take down our rest stop, and head for
home.

This is a great opportunity to show our support for the Carolina Tarwheels
club, which has very generously $upported TRTC in recent years. People who
volunteer can contact me <mailto:pedaling at mindspring.com> for
directions. Thanks!
