Hi Bill,
So let me get this straight. While they support the recognition of the
Brimley's, they are making a recommendation that the City should
restrict the naming of greenways to only geographic features, such as
the "Crabtree Creek Greenway," the "Neuse River Greenway" etc.
Wouldn't this not permit renaming or naming of greenways for Dr. Brimley?
They seem to have taken our request as an excuse to clarify or make
policy. That is too bad. It sounds like this is a step in the wrong
direction.
I think we'd prefer that they not recommend this policy, so that there
will be a chance for this with a future Greenways Advisory Board. The
current Board, which obviously doesn't want to name greenways in honor
of people, wants to make this a policy. If they do this, then we, or the
Brimley heirs, won't be able to bring this up in the future.
Oh well... Sorry to stir up the pot!
Happy Trails,
Bill Bussey
