Bill B -

I still don't see mention of any compensation to help offset the expenses
that TGC has incurred on stewardship of this property over the past several
years.

Are you aware of any intent by the City of TRTC to do so?

If not, we are still at the same point that we were early this year when I
first approached Beth about the City's acceptance of the property - they are
certainly happy to do so, but as yet have no source of funding to offer any
compensation.

Perhaps some sort of compensation could be worked into the July 2008 City
Budget.

Regards

Dan

Subject: [Greenway-board] Durham Acknowledgement to manage Fayetteville
RoadTrail Access

Hi Robert and Triangle Greenways Council Board,

As requested by Robert Hinson at the October TGC meeting, attached please
find a letter from the City of Durham offering a willingness to accept the
donation of the constructed American Tobacco Trail Parking Access at 7616
Fayetteville Road, and to manage it as a public parking lot and access for
the American Tobacco Trail.

In case you can't open the attachment, I've copied the text only, minus the
letterhead, in graphic form below.

Robert requested this at the meeting and we present it now. Roberst said
that he wanted a letter specifying such in order to protect TRTC's interest,
time and expense in the development of this property, as well as that of
TGC. While Durham has always acknowledged that they would manage the
property as a trailhead, here it is in writing. Our Board is satisfied with
this response.

Please let us know how and when we can move this property transfer forward
so Durham can begin the management of this property and it can be finally
opened to the public.

The ball is in your court.

Happy Trails,

Bill Bussey
