Hello,

I'm glad that this list has been created! I hope that there will be a lot of
advice and queries that will make renovating a lot easier and a little fun.
I am new to the Triangle and look forward to learning about historic areas
of Durham and the renovation of older homes.

I am considering the purchase of a 1946 FourSquare bungalow on S Roxboro St.
The house is in an 'OK' area of primarily bungalow homes. The homes beside
it are primarily the same style. It will need some 'serious' landscape and
internal work to bring back the true bungalow charm. I know this may be a
long and somewhat expensive process.

Are there any common features such as doors, windows, etc used in 'historic'
bungalows? Is there a particular siding used on traditional bungalows? I am
trying to estimate the cost for exterior renovations to bring it back to
what it may have been like originally before I decide to purchase.

If there's anyone on the list who has renovated an old bungalow,
particularly a FourSquare or Craftsman, please post about your experiences.

Thanks,
Angela
