Ramon,
I am so sorry to hear that you all are leaving. I can only imagine
how much you have enjoyed your home. I'm familiar with the property,
and it is indeed special. One idea for you to consider to protect
your home for years to come is to place protective covenants on all
or part of the property. Preservation Durham has assisted other
homeowners in doing this, and will be happy to help you to tailor the
covenants to your situation. I can tell you anecdotally that the
presence of the covenants has not been an impediment in selling
houses, if that is a concern. We wish you well in your transition and
if Preservation Durham can help, please call 682-3036. I'm copying
John Compton, Executive Director on this message.
Best regards,
Ellen
