Dr Hugh Smyth is Research Assistant Professor at the School of Pharmacy,
University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Hugh obtained his Pharmacy
degree and Ph.D. in pharmaceutics from the University of Otago, Dunedin,
New Zealand. He completed a post-doctoral fellowship at the School of
Pharmacy at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill under Professor
Anthony Hickey. Dr Smyth has been involved in novel drug delivery
development and research. His experience includes: transdermal delivery,
controlled release technologies, and inhalation aerosols. Specifically,
formulation, characterization, modeling and optimization of inhalation
aerosols, particle size analysis, dry powder inhaler formulation and novel
predictive modeling. He has served as a NSF panelist on Drug Delivery
Technologies, presented a several international meetings, and has given
lectures in several fields of pharmaceutics.
