Seminar Series
Wednesday, March 9, 2005, 3:00pm
(130 North Bldg – Research Drive)

Noah Rosenberg,PhD
Senior Research Associate, Dept. of Mathematics
University of Southern California

“Identifying informative genetic markers for population assignment”

Inference of individual ancestry from genetic markers is helpful in a
variety of contexts. To identify informative markers that can reduce the
effort required for ancestry inference, I will discuss statistical
approaches for quantifying the amount of information that markers provide
about individual ancestry. These methods will then be demonstrated using
genetic variation data from humans and several other species.

Reception to follow in room 118 North Bldg.
