The Eastern North Carolina chapter of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and
Biology Society is pleased to sponsor a presentation by Dr. Etta Pisano,
Kenan Professor, University of North Carolina School of Medicine, and
Professor of Biomedical Engineering, on the UNC Biomedical Research Imaging
Center and the future of technology development and assessment with focus on
breast imaging.

Speaker: Dr. Etta Driscoll Pisano, M.D., F.A.C.R.
Dr. Pisano is Founding Chief of the Breast Imaging Section of the UNC
Department of Radiology and physician co-founder of the UNC
Multidisciplinary Breast Cancer Clinic and Conference. She created and has
led for 14 years an innovative weekly mammography problem-solving conference
which serves as an educational and quality control tool. Dr. Pisano was
named by Diagnostic Imaging as one of the 20 most influential people in
radiology and is a consultant on breast imaging to the Institute of Medicine
and the Food and Drug Administration. she is also Founding Director of the
UNC Biomedical Research Imaging Center (BRIC), which includes 12 new
permanent Provost-created faculty positions in medical imaging research.
Dr. Pisano received her M.D. from the Duke University School of Medicine.
She has over 385 publications and presentations in a variety of fields
related to diagnostic imaging, breast cancer diagnosis, and radiology.
