Dr. Daniel A. Reed, director of the Institute for Renaissance Computing 
(supported by Duke, UNC-CH, and NC State), will speak at 1:30pm Tuesday, 
room 104, Peabody Hall. Topic: Computing the Future: Release 2016. free,

"Computing the Future: Release 2016" will speculate on technology 
advances over the next decade and their potential impacts on everything 
from education to healthcare to entertainment.

In "Computing the Future: Release 2016," Dr. Reed will describe some 
visions of a technology enriched future - driven by new inventions, by 
national and international policies, and by global competition - and 
their applicability to North Carolina.

Reed has been director of the National "Center for Supercomputing 
Applications.
