Overview 7:30 8:30pm: Pat Muller, Chief Nursing Officer, Cerner,
Inc.,"How Can Electronic Health Records Transform Healthcare?"
There is a considerable amount of “buzz” across many industries and
governments about electronic health records. These discussions center
on quality of patient care, portability of information, privacy,
content, access, pay for performance, and clinical practice. We are
going to take a high level look at a large topic, and examine what an
electronic health record is, the impact of an electronic health record,
how it contributes to regionalization of healthcare information, and at
the patient care level what the impact can be to quality of care,
safety, access, and privacy.

Speaker Bio:
Pat Muller, RN, MSN, MBA has 28 years of nursing experience in critical
care areas (ED, ICU), surgery, high-risk home care, consulting,
management, and Healthcare Information Technology. She joined Cerner in
1998 and currently holds the position of Chief Nursing Officer for the
South region. Her responsibilities include leading the Care
Transformation efforts in the Southeast and across Cerner, maintaining
primary nursing executive relationship with clients, assessing and
measuring methodology and projects, developing and mentoring associates,
and maintaining recommended clinical strategy across solutions within
existing projects and all new sales.
Ms. Muller has championed several strategic planning initiatives,
consolidations, and improvement projects that have resulted in achieving
measurable improvements in quality of care, market share, revenue growth
and cost reductions / avoidance. She has a thorough understanding of
the economic pressures and regulatory requirements that impact
healthcare. She applies this knowledge to strategic planning
initiatives and business process redesign. She has led and championed
multi-disciplinary teams through both start-up and re-engineering
