Dear Colleagues,
The October meeting of the Advanced Medical Care Cluster Network will
be held on Wednesday, October 4, 2006 from 8:00 to 9:30 AM at the
College of Textiles on Centennial Campus (1000 Main Campus Drive).
MeadWestvaco, a $6.5B global packaging company, has recently located
their new Center for Packaging Innovation on the NCSU Centennial
Campus, directly across the street from the College of Textiles.
MeadWestvaco employees will be offering presentations around the
following:

Overview of MeadWestvaco and vision/goals for the Innovation Center
Current efforts in pharmaceutical, health care, diagnostic, and
medical device areas including work in RFID tracking/tagging at
item-level, security and anti-counterfeiting systems, drug delivery
systems, tamper- and child- proof packaging, compliance packaging for
patients and clinical trials, device packaging,  and interactive
packaging.
Vision/ anticipated efforts including interactive drug delivery
systems and intelligent RFID tagged blister packages
Involvement with local community going forward including partnerships

After the presentation, those interested are invited to tour the
Center for Packaging Innovation which will also include demonstrations
of some of the new concepts discussed, including intelligent,
compliance, and interactive packaging.

MeadWestvaco in their planning, please indicate in your reply whether
you will also be attending the tour and demonstrations.
