Meet Frances Martin, Vice President of Global Commercial Strategy for
Infectious Diseases at GlaxoSmithKline. Fran has over 25 years of
business expertise in pharmacy management, pharmaceutical marketing &
sales, business development, managed care and strategic planning both
within the U.S. & in international arenas. Fran has been on commercial
teams across multiple therapeutic categories: CNS, Respiratory, HIV,
Urology, Diabetes, Obesity, SERMS, etc and across all phases of
pharmaceutical development (preclinical, phase 1-4) and product life
cycle (discovery through patent expiry). She led marketing teams for the
US product launches of Imitrex, Flovent, Agenerase and VESIcare - just a
few of GSK's most successful products. She holds a Bachelor of Science
in Pharmacy and maintains her accreditation as a Registered Pharmacist,
licensed in Pennsylvania.
Fran's presentation, "Commercialization of a Pharmaceutical Product,"
will offer insight on shaping a compound into a viable, marketed product
and how early commercial input helps to identify patient and physician
insight that shapes clinical data needs that may ultimately affect the
utility of the compound in clinical practice. She'll also touch on the
commercial building blocks that include getting relevant results from
market research, building a market and preparing your product for
launch. Come ready to share any questions you may have regarding
commercialization of pharmaceutical products!

Interested in a Leadership Role in the Pharmaceutical LIG?
=======================================================================
Opportunities exist for enthusiastic and dedicated volunteers to take on
the leadership of this very active LIG for the 2007 program. The current
leaders of the group plan to stand down at the end of their term and are
looking for individuals who would enjoy the challenge of building and
managing the 2007 program.
The three roles and their current incumbents are Chair: Derek Ross, VP
Programs: Craig Herman, and VP Communications: Jan Gillespie. New
officers would transition into these positions in November 2006.
A description of the responsibilities of these roles can be found at:
http://www.ncpmi.org/index.phtml?menu=other_page&menu2=93
If you would like know more or to express your interest in any of these
opportunities, please contact us at pharmalig at ncpmi.org or catch up with
Derek, Craig or Jan at the next LIG meeting.
October Half-Day Program

upcoming NCPMI Annual Event on October 4 and the lack of available
speakers. Please let your Pharma LIG Leadership team members know of any

meetings. We are always in search of outstanding local Project
Management experts who have interest in sharing their Knowledge and
experience with our group.
