The National Venture Capital Association (NVCA) and the Council for
Entrepreneurial Development (CED) are hosting a free, public event
featuring a discussion with Mark Heesen, NVCA President, on “The State
of Venture Capital.” During his talk, Heesen will discuss recent
investment activity and provide a snapshot of the venture capital
landscape in 2008. Following his comments their will be a free
networking reception.

Heesen works closely with the venture capital community, developing NVCA
policies and strategies, and directing the association’s national
legislative and regulatory efforts. Since, 1991, Heesen has worked on
behalf of the venture capital community to enact a wide range of
policies that benefit the venture capital and entrepreneurial
communities, including a significant capital gains differential,
securities litigation reform, accounting treatment of stock options and
merger accounting, reform of the FDA pre-market approval process, among
others.
