Free Tour!

NCRAF will tour the Biomanufacturing Training and Education Center 
(BTEC) at the NCSU Centennial campus in Raleigh, NC, on Thursday June 
19,2008 from 6-7:30 pm. The event is free, but is limited to 40 
participants.

There will be no food or drink catered at the tour.

BTEC is deploying an unparalleled system of advanced, hands-on training 
and education in a current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP) 
environment using facilities and equipment that match those in place at 
the world's leading biomanufacturing companies. Students learn both in 
classroom setting, and hands-on at bioreactors. The BTEC center has both 
large and intermediate processing suites each equipped with fermentors, 
various downstream processing equipment and lab areas for research in 
microbial and cell culture. There is also 8000 sq. feet of aseptic 
clean-room space for training, and space for training in analytical methods.

Directions to the Golden LEAF BTEC Building :

 From the Raleigh Beltline (I-440):

 From the Raleigh Beltline (I-440), take Western Boulevard East towards 
NC State and then turn right at the fifth traffic light onto Avent Ferry 
Road. At the second light, turn left onto Varsity Drive and stop at the 
Information Booth to purchase a parking permit, which will cost $2.00 
(tell the Booth attendant you're attending a meeting in the BTEC).

Continue straight on Varsity Drive until it reaches a dead end at 
Partners Way. The back of the BTEC building will be on your left, on the 
far side of Partners Way. You can park in the second deck on the parking 
garage on the left. However, try turning Left on Partners Way, turn 
right on first road, turn right onto Oval Dr, and see if there are empty 
parking spaces on the front side of BTEC. Enter the main lobby through 
the front entrance of the building, and we will gather in the lobby to 
wait for our tour guide.

 From I-40:

 From I-40, take the Gorman Street exit towards NC State. Turn right 
onto Avent Ferry Road (second light), then turn right onto Varsity Drive 
(first light). Then join the other set of instructions.

There should not be a $2.00 campus parking fee required, as this is 
after hours.
