Eric,
A lot of spam is sent to the lists that I own. Usually I am asked to
review for approval because the sender is not a member of the list, and I
discard the postings. I've seen this message several times. But this
particular one looks like it was forged to be from me. I don't read
message headers very well these days, but I see in the header "From:
hallman <hallman@email.unc.edu>" and since I'm on the list, it got posted.
But I didn't send it. At least StripMime took out the content.
I think the spammer just picked up my e-mail address from a Web page and
it was coincidence that the message was sent to a list I'm a member of.
If you search google for hallman@email.unc.edu you'll see that my e-mail
address is on LOTS of web pages.
I'm afraid what I need to do (as Mark Smith pointed out in a private
message) is to go through all the RTPnet Web pages and my personal Web
pages and change the format of all the e-mail addresses. I actually
already had this on my TODO list. I just need to move it up nearer the top
of the list.
