I am on another list that is hosted at UNC and we are getting ALLOT of spam.
I think you are right about the e-mail addresses being harvested by web
bots. I suspect this because the spam I am getting on the other list are
only from e-mail links on the ibiblio hosted web pages that this list is
associated with. Seems to me that those servers are getting hit hard by web
bots.
The original post at the bottom that was suspected to be a virus could be
just a PING by a spam e-mail server checking to see if it hit the list.
