I think Microsoft and large software companies allow users to pass older
versions of software to non-profits. At least, they did in the past as we
would use it when I was working to help people with disabilities get
computers at home. Older versions work fine for most people, but they are
not supported by the vendor. If someone could research that, I am sure
organizations and folks would give older versions of software they have.

Suggest you check the tech soup site for information about site licenses
for various software. Also consider star office (Sun Microsystems) as a
possible free or low cost compatible substitute for MS Office.
