To TACT list:

I've revised RTPnet's Computer and Internet Web page,
http://www.rtpnet.org/comp/ , to focus on computer self-help.

I've also revised the handouts I teach from and added an Overview. These
are linked from the first section of http://www.rtpnet.org/comp/

As noted in the overview:

- Two-hour classes teach adults basic computer skills, how to use Help,
and how to continue learning on their own. Content is focused on learning
basic skills, not a particular application.

- Step-by-step instructions in the handouts allow students to learn on
their own or to repeat what they learned in class.

- Each class is complete; it is not necessary to take one class before
another. Since the handouts have step-by-step instructions, people can
learn what they want when they want.

You are welcome to use the handouts. Please send suggestions to me
<hallman at rtpnet.org>.

I taught the four classes at Cedar Grove during August and September and
will repeat the series at Cedar Grove Community Center, 5800 Highway #86
North, Cedar Grove, North Carolina, on Thursdays, 10:00 a.m. - noon,
starting October 2. You are welcome to join us if you'd like to see these
classes in action and/or help out with teaching. For the last set, there
were two students, both men about 45-55.

Those who attended the last conference (May 30) and were interested in the
Keyboard Shortcuts Mike Rulison mentioned, might want to check out the
Keyboard Shortcut links, under "Resources," bottom right.

I also revised the Tech Support page, http://www.rtpnet.org/tech .
I moved some of the help tips to http://www.rtpnet.org/comp .
The tech support page is focused on helping community technology centers.
