To TACT list:

I've updated the RTPnet/VISTA Web page
(http://www.rtpnet.org/rtpnet/vista.shtml ) to reflect the following
changes (it's been a LONG time since I updated this page).
Please note that RTPnet pays fees and expenses of about $4,500 for each
VISTA -- that is, about 75 membership fees fund one VISTA.

(1)
Vahid Nourani (VISTA #8) <vahid at unitedwaytriangle.org> AND
Damita Chambers (VISTA #9) <dchambers at unitedwaytriangle.org>
are scheduled to start as RTPnet VISTAs on September 2, 2004.
Sponsored by RTPnet and Triangle United Way.
The goal of Vahid and Damita's project is to monitor, coordinate, and
promote the Tech LinkUp project (http://www.techlinkup.org ) and provide
support for TechCoop projects (http://www.rtpnet.org/techcoop ).

(2)
Chad Custer (VISTA #7) <chad.custer at duke.edu>
will complete his year of service this month.
Chad continued the CLICK program (http://www.duke.edu/web/isis/click/ )
at Rogers Herr Middle School and extended the work to Lyon's Park
Community Center. He designed a curriculum for its younger students. In
addition, several organizations across the nation are using CLICK's free
downloadable materials for improving the skills of children after
school. The project will continue in 2004-2005 as a CTC VISTA project
sponsored by the John Hope Franklin Center for Interdisciplinary &
International Studies, Duke University.

(3)
Ella Holden (VISTA #5) <HoldenI at aol.com>.
Completed two years of service April 2004.
Jointly sponsored by the Riley Hill Community Technology Center and
RTPnet. Ella's project provided technical support and training for the
Riley Hill Community Technology Center.

(4)
Martha Ann Moore (VISTA #1) <margentamarty at yahoo.com>.
Completed three years of service February 2004.
Sponsored by the Birchwood Heights Homeowners Association and RTPnet.
Martha's project promoted community participation in the Birchwood
Learning Center (BLC) in Durham. For the last two years, she was the
only staff person at the Birchwood Learning Center. In partnership with
John Avery Boys and Girls Club, she has run an after-school program at
Birchwood.

Martha's outstanding community technology leadership was acknowledged by
a Technology to Empower Communities (TEC) Champion Award for Outstanding
Community Technology Leaders.

In addition, Martha was a recipient of a RTPnet Community Technology
Award, presented at the RTPnet annual conference.
