Just a reminder that an online course will be offered through Wake Tech
that addresses the use of Assistive Technology in reading, math, and
written language. The first class begins August 23. There are two
additional classes scheduled for the fall. This is a no test/no stress
course with a lot of good information about AT and its application to
the classroom. Pass this on to teachers you think might be interested
and be sure to sign up yourself! Teacher recertification credit is
available! See the information below. Attached is a mail in registration
form.

Assistive Technology: One Subject at a Time*#
Reading, math and written language hold challenges for any student at
any level. For students with disabilities, this challenge is compounded
with access issues. Students having disabilities that interfere with
their learning can and do participate in all areas of the curriculum.
Learn how educators are helping students with mobility, sensory,
cognitive, speech, language and behavioral issues become a part of
classroom activities and experience success. Students in this course
will learn about technology that is specifically designed to address the
three subject areas of reading, math and written language. We will
explore possible classroom situations in which these tools and
strategies might be applied and complete assignments that will help you
develop a resource from which you can draw when presented with the next
struggling student. Prerequisites: excellent Windows and Internet skills
and access to a Web browser. Note: This class is taught online using
Blackboard. 20 hrs.
