Greetings,

The Institute for Nonprofits, at North Carolina State University, is
pleased to offer a professional development workshop for nonprofit
leaders titled, Giving Voice to Mission: Nonprofit Advocacy and Lobbying
- Yes You Can! The program will be offered on Wednesday June 21st, 8:30
am to 12:00 pm, at the NC Rural Economic Development Center in Raleigh.

This fast-paced, interactive session, will explore the role of advocacy
and lobbying by 501(c)(3) nonprofits in advancing organizational
mission. We'll address the legal parameters impacting this role, as
well as strategies to overcome barriers, like time and money, so
nonprofits can integrate advocacy into their core operations. Nonprofit
leaders will gain greater clarity about what they can and should be
doing to be effective advocates and will be prepared to engage their
organizations in dialogue about how advocacy can advance their mission.
Since engaging in advocacy requires a commitment from both the board and
staff, we strongly recommend that two attend this program, preferably
the agency Executive Director/CEO and Board President.

Please see the attached program announcement, registration information
sheet, and registration form. You may also visit us online at
http://www.chass.ncsu.edu/nonprofit. Space is limited so that we can offer
a highly interactive session. Therefore we suggest that you register
early. We hope to see you on June 21st!
