The University of Wisconsin - Madison will hold a leadership institute
for archives professionals June 21-28, 2008, in Madison. The week-long
event will feature presentations by dynamic leaders both within and
outside the archives profession. With a goal of examining the
profession's leadership needs and preparing participants to influence
policy and effect change on behalf of the profession (and, ultimately,
on behalf of the public served), the program is directed primarily to
mid-level to senior staff and archivists who aspire to leadership roles
in their organizations and/or professional associations. 

Twenty-five archivists will be selected to spend the week at the
University of Wisconsin - Madison's beautiful lakeshore conference
center and guest house. Most of the costs are covered by a grant from
the National Historical Publications and Records Commission (NHPRC) and
a registration fee of $500 includes tuition, instructional materials,
lodging, and some meals. A number of scholarships for travel and tuition
will also be awarded. Regional archival organizations are encouraged to
consider sponsoring members who apply and are selected for the
institute.
