About the Collection:
The collection of service-learning materials is comprised of seven

been on the types of learning that take place when young people and
adults engage in direct service activities with oppressed and
marginalized people. He has over 40 years of experience in the field
and has been influential in the founding of many service-learning groups
and organizations around the country, but specifically in the South.
Documents in the collection include an array of articles, newsletters,
books, and miscellaneous notes all relating to the concept of
service-learning. Additionally, there are many unpublished manuscripts,
essays, reports, results of field work studies, correspondences,

during his forty years of work. The materials are mostly from the 1960s
