Hello colleagues:

As the University Archivist at UNCW, I am in the very early stage of exploring electronic records management and archiving. I would welcome information about your experiences. Because I am also looking at institutional repositories that typically specialize scholarly information, I particularly seek responses from university and college archivists (especially those who work in the UNC system). However, if you don't work in a university archives but have expertise and/or interest in electronic records and want to reply, I would be most grateful.

At UNCW, I recognize the need for a digital archive that could include UNCW departmental newsletters, the UNCW Magazine, faculty committee reports, university catalogs, and other administrative and historical information.

My questions are:

1. What has your institution pursued with regard to preserving and providing access to university-related information that is not purely scholarly or research-based? Please let me know a bit about your electronic records practices and policy (what type of content do you collect, and what software do you use for the database), and a URL, if available.

2. How does your current or planned digital archive of administrative/historical/university information relate to your current or planned institutional repository of scholarly information? Same platform? Same database? Cross-searchable? Run by different departments altogether? Please share!

Thank you very much for your help and take care.
