Oops, I just realized Collection Media Type does display in Administrative Information. Oh well, still interested in what you think about populating this field and how it is helpful to the user.

Subject: [snca-list] material type for multi-format collections

I'm wondering about "material type," if a collection consists of more than one format of material. In archon you can only select one material type and I'm assuming that's the case for the EAD element/attribute as well?? Is it better to select the dominant material type, or to go with something general like Papers, Collection or Records.

What is the purpose of "material type" any way? I notice it doesn't display even the administrative view of the finding aid.

Thanks.
