Hello All,
Again we are seeing gasoline prices climbing at the pump. As a result, we
are receiving more emails about converting cars to electric. As momentum
builds again, we need to reexamine where we are with respect to the TEAA.
What have been our successes? Where do we need to improve? What do we
anticipate and how do we get there? One of the recurring themes is to have
a hands on car to convert. This has been voiced a number of times. We now
have that potential in the form of a previous conversion that needs to be
refurbished. The potential donor wants to see it converted properly with
the emphasis on properly. This is an opportune time for TEAA members to
create and execute a plan to bring this car back to road worthiness. This
is also a time for me to step aside and let this happen. What happens with
the development of this car will be up to you. This is an opportunity that
a number of other EV groups only dream about. What happens is up to you
all. If the car is donated, I will donate a trailer for moving the vehicle
from storage to construction site to EVent sites. I know of others who have
said they will donate various parts. Thank you for your support!!
I have enjoyed being President of the TEAA. From saving the TEAA from
dying in 2005 to seeing regular meetings in a generously provided access to
a climate controlled garage with car lifts. From a self maintained web site
to our own web master who has really enhanced our web site. From planning
each meeting to having a Director of Operations who has brought in a number
of very knowledgeable people with excellent programs and a Treasurer who
has doggedly pursued reimbursements through a chaotic time for the EAA. We
have been instrumental in helping others bring into and/or converting at
least a dozen electric vehicles within the Triangle area. However, time has
a way of catching up with us all and the need to reevaluate where we are
and where we need to go. It has become readily apparent that it is time for
me to step aside, let go, and redirect my energies to other EV related
projects. I will still be associated with EVs and the TEAA but only in a
supportive role. DC will be acting as President Pro Tempore with the goal
of building up membership to where general elections can be held at the end
of this year and to provide an underlying foundation to you all for
creating a plan and for properly carrying it out. I think you all can come
together to put this car back on the road.
