Hi Friends of the American Tobacco Trail,
I just received this online petition about the new greenway bridge over
I-440 in Raleigh that I thought you might be interested in. I think it
is self explanatory. Feel free to read about and sign this petition if

I got this message from Sig Hutchinson. SigHutch at aol.com
Concerns the greenway connecting to the new greenway bridge over I-440. Seems
that Meredith College has restricted access to the greenway running thru
Meredith to people from Ridge Rd neighborhoods.
So take a look and please sign the petition if you agree.
Hi There Friends, Family, and Running Buddies!
> You know me, I really don't shake things up all that much, but I have a
> small favor to ask of you. Recently, Meredith College has closed the
> access gate to pick up the new greenway from this side (the north side) of
Now people aren't using our new beautiful, yet very expensive
> greenway because the access has become extremely dangerous and lengthy to
> get to, especially if you have children with you. Next time you happen to
> drive under the pedestrian bridge over the beltline, notice how few
> people, if any are using it. That's because we can't safely get to it!
> Our neighborhood has created an organization called "Get To The Greenway!"
> to let Raleigh City Council, Meredith College, NC DOT and other relevant
> officials know that we would like to find a solution to this so all users
> can safely access the greenway to the museum and then onto the Reedy Creek
> This doesn't just affect our neighborhood, it affects future Wake County
> Greenway projects if there isn't the support and confidence in how the
> projects will be carried out. Make sense?
> So, if you have a moment, our family would be very appreciative of your
> support of this matter either as a current Wake County greenway user, or
> someone who might visit us and enjoy using the greenway.
> I've attached the petition link on line. We are meeting with several city
> representatives and someone from Meredith College next Monday. We would
> like to have as many signatures as possible by then. Anyone over 18 in
> family can sign it, and of course the more the merrier. Please also
> this on to anyone you know that cares about our local greenway system.
> Thank you for taking the time to read this. (And of course, let me know
> you can't open the link!)
> Happy Thanksgiving, and Happy Trails!
