Hi TRTC Volunteers,
Sorry for the late notice, but with the nice weather projected for
Saturday, September 11, we thought we should get in a good workday at
the Fayetteville Road Parking Area site.
We'll begin about 9 a.m. and work until at least noon. We may go on
beyond that. Feel free to join us anytime and leave anytime you like.
We'll be cutting and trimming the grass around the site, gathering and
cleaning the trash and junk on the site. If we have some trucks with
Durham or Chatham dumping/recycling stickers, we'll make a run or two to
their locations. We may do a bit of burning, depending on the
conditions. And we may set up some tree protection and/or erosion fence
posts. There is PLENTY to do.
If you have it and care to bring it, bring your: truck with Durham,
Chatham, Orange or Wake Recycling sticker, lawnmower, string trimmer,
loppers, chain saw (we probably only need one of those) small handsaw
and wheelbarrow.
Of course, wear long pants and bring work gloves if you have them.
We'll do what we can with the resources we have available. However, we
should be able to make some visible progress in preparation for the
structure demolition to take place over the next few weeks.
Please contact me by email or phone if you have any questions or
comments, or are planning to bring a chainsaw or lawnmower, as we may
quickly get enough of them. Trucks and trailer capable of making runs to
the recycling stations are always welcome.
Directions: From Southpoint Mall and I-40 on Fayetteville Road, go south
about 1/2 mile. See the cement bridge over the American Tobacco Trail or
old RR. Property is on the immediate right BEFORE you cross the bridge.
If you cross the bridge and pass the entrance of Chancellors Ridge,
you've gone too far. Park along the shoulder of Fayetteville Road.
From the south, from NC 751 coming from US 64, drive north on NC 751 to
the stoplight at Fayetteville Road. Turn right onto Fayetteville Road.
Go about a mile and cross the cement bridge. Property is on the
immediate left past just past the bridge. Park on the shoulder. If you
pass the new Drees Home subdivision on your left, you've gone too far.
Thanks for your great work on the American Tobacco Trail.
