Hi American Tobacco Trail Volunteers,

Your help is really needed at this important workday this Saturday,
October 16. That's tomorrow!

This workday will be held at our parking area site on Fayetteville Road
about a mile south of Southpoint Mall, starting at 9am. We could really
use you to help out with this important project because we'd like to
finish with the demolition and clean-up of the site in order to not need
to rent a dumpster again.

We made a lot of progress last weekend, and this is the final push on
this important project. Thanks to Mike Moorman, Chris Baylies, Judy
Szustakowski, Curt Devereux and Frank Bennett for all the work they did
to finish with the structure demolition this past weekend.

Come at 9 am or after and stay as long as you like. If you can walk and
pick things up, we can use you! Even if it's just an hour or two, or if
it's all day, please stop by.

When finished this parking area will be donated to the City of Durham
Parks and Recreation Department for the enjoyment of future generations.
TRTC probably will help maintain it for a number of years. Completion of
this demolition and trash removal is an important first step toward
completion of this project.

Don't forget to bring your work gloves, long pants and preferably long
sleeved shirts. Bring water and a snack if you like. As a precaution,
make sure that your tetanus shot is up-to-date as there as we'll be
picking up and moving a lot of junk and some trash. We'll be moving
brush and other yard debris as well. We don't have a major structure to
deal with so it should be fairly safe work.

If you have it, please bring a wheelbarrow or wheeled cart. If you have
them, bring some loppers for trimming brush. If folks don't want to haul
trash, we'll put them to work on the grounds! You might want to bring a
bucket to carry home anything that might be of use to you.

Please contact Bill by phone (see below) if you have any questions or
comments.

Trucks and trailer capable of making runs to the recycling stations are
always welcome.

Directions
==========

>From Southpoint Mall and I-40 on Fayetteville Road, go south about 1/2
mile. See the cement bridge over the American Tobacco Trail or old RR.
Property is on the immediate right BEFORE you cross the bridge.
If you cross the bridge and pass the entrance of Chancellors Ridge on
the right, you've gone too far. Park along the shoulder of Fayetteville
Road.

>From the south, from NC 751 coming from US 64, drive north on NC 751 to
the stoplight at Fayetteville Road. Turn right onto Fayetteville Road.
Go about a mile and cross the cement bridge. Property is on the
immediate left past just past the bridge. Park on the shoulder. If you
pass the new Drees Home subdivision on your left, you've gone too far.

Please join us if you can. Let us know if you have any questions.
Thanks for your great work on the American Tobacco Trail.
