Hi Volunteers for the American Tobacco Trail,

This is a reminder of the American Tobacco Trail workday this Saturday,
August 20. We'll be meeting at the Fayetteville Road Parking Area
<http://triangletrails.org/DIRECTIONS.HTM> at 9 AM.

*Saturday, September 17 at 9 AM* is our southern Durham County ATT
Workday at Fayetteville Road Parking Area
<http://www.triangletrails.org/DIRECTIONS.HTM>. Park on the shoulder of
the road, but be very careful as the road is heavily used. We may have
folks parking in Chancellors Ridge to walk over to the site.

Here are better directions to the work site than are at the links given
above.
*
DIRECTIONS TO THE FAYETTEVILLE ROAD TRAILHEAD*

This future trailhead parking area is located on the west side of
Fayetteville Road just north of the bridge passing over the American
Tobacco Trail (ATT).

From I-40 take Exit 276 (Southpoint Mall/Fayetteville Road). At the top
of the exit ramp, turn south, or toward Southpoint Mall. Follow the
directions to Southpoint Mall. Go past the mall on your right. Pass
Massey Chapel Road on your left, then Massey Chapel Road again on your
right. Pass Drees homes development on your right. See a cement bridge
on Fayetteville Road ahead. *Immediately* before the bridge, there is an
obscure driveway on your right. This is where we will be. There will be
cars parked on the shoulder of Fayetteville Road.

If you cross over the bridge, which goes over the old railroad and now
American Tobacco Trail, and/or you see the Chancellors Ridge subdivision
on the right, you have gone too far. Turn around and go back and cross
the bridge. The drive will be on your left, if going north on
Fayetteville, immediately after the bridge.
The directions to this parking area at the links above may not be clear.
I've provided better directions below. We'll update the website
directions soon.

Bill Bussey, Frank Bennett will lead volunteers in clearing and cleaning
our soon to be graded parking area on Fayetteville Road. Trees in the
parking area were trimmed earlier this week, so we'll be cutting up and
dragging the trees into the adjoining woods. Steve Lund will also be
dropping a few pine trees that need to be removed for safety reasons.

Bring work gloves, full shoes or boots, clothing appropriate for the
weather, water and a snack if you like.* I* *Please wear long pants
*because we may get into some brush.

We'll probably work till about noon or so. If it is raining badly or all
over the area, or the forecast is for such, we'll cancel this workday.
Feel free to call Bill Bussey at 919 545-9104, as late as 8 a.m., to
verify a go or no go. However, if you aren't comfortable with the
forecast, use your best judgment and join us or not as you prefer.

Please let Frank Bennett <mailto:FJB675 at hotmail.com> 919-851-3992 or
Bill Bussey <mailto:billbus at gte.net> 919 545-9104 know if you have any
questions.
