Hi Volunteers for the American Tobacco Trail,

This is to remind you of our American Tobacco Trail workday, Tomorrow,
*Saturday, February 18*, on the American Tobacco Trail at the
Fayetteville Road Trailhead
<http://www.triangletrails.org/DIRECTIONS.HTM> at 9 a.m.

Please join us, Saturday, February 18 at 9 a.m. at the Fayetteville Road
trailhead <http://www.triangletrails.org/DIRECTIONS.HTM> in Durham
County. Our main focus will be to continue installation of the roof
panels for our information pavillion structure at the parking area. The
frame of this structure was constructed several weeks back TRTC
volunteers. We are currently screwing the roof panels in place on the roof.

Yesterday, Curt Devereux and I installed several more panels and
continued to learn a bit as we went along. You can see photos of this
construction at this link: http://www.triangletrails.org/PHOTOS19.HTM

After gorgeous weekdays, we keep having bad weather on Saturday
mornings. Last Saturdays' workday was canceled due to a cold rain.

Weather conditions are sketchy for tomorrow. It may be rainy or worse on
Saturday. If so, we will have a limited workday that would end before
noon. Or we may have none at all. Please use your best judgment to
determine if you want to be working outside in rainy conditions.

If you have an AC powered drill driver that operates at speeds of up
around 2500 rpm, we could sure use it. An AC powered drill that operates
at around 2500 rpm would be useful as well. We do have AC power on site.

If you have a 6 foot, or preferably 8 foot folding ladder, similar to
what is shown in the photos, we could use it too!

Also, please let me know if any of you are available to help out in the
week. Thursday afternoons are best. However, we may be able to meet at
the site at other times as well. We'd really like to get this roof
project wrapped up, so any and all help is appreciated.

For those who want to do something other than installing the roof, there
is still some clearing and moving brush around this trail parking area
which is currently under construction by TRTC. We'll have some post
holes to dig as well for several things that we are installing.

We can also use some trash pickup on the trail at O'Kelly Chapel Road.
Please come to the Fayetteville Road trailhead
<http://www.triangletrails.org/DIRECTIONS.HTM> for instructions and
trash bags.

We can often use loppers if you have them. If you have a hand saw and
feel comfortable using it, please bring them along. However, we mainly
need folks to drag brush around.

Bring work gloves, full shoes or boots, clothing appropriate for the
weather, water and a snack if you like.* *

We'll probably work till about noon or so. If it is raining badly or all
over the area, or the forecast is for such, we'll cancel this workday.
Feel free to call Bill Bussey at 919 545-9104, as late as 8 a.m., to
verify a go or no go. However, if you aren't comfortable with the
forecast, use your best judgment and join us or not as you prefer.
Please let Curt Devereux <mailto:devereux at gte.net> 919 919 544-3948
