Hi Volunteers for the American Tobacco Trail,
This is to remind you of our American Tobacco Trail workday, Tomorrow,
*Saturday, February 25*, on the American Tobacco Trail at the
Fayetteville Road Trailhead
<http://www.triangletrails.org/DIRECTIONS.HTM> at 9 a.m.
Please join us, Saturday, February 25 at 9 a.m. at the Fayetteville Road
trailhead <http://www.triangletrails.org/DIRECTIONS.HTM> in Durham
County. Our main focus will be to continue installation of the roof
panels for our information pavillion structure at the parking area. The
frame of this structure was constructed several weeks back TRTC
volunteers. We are currently screwing the roof panels in place on the roof.
Yesterday, Curt Devereux, Frank Bennett and I installed two ridge panels
and continued to learn a bit as we went along. Last Saturday, we had a
great team and acceptable weather and managed to get more of the flat
panels installed.
After gorgeous weekdays, we seem to keep having bad weather on Saturday
mornings. However, we go with what we have and end the workday early if
conditions warrant.
If it is rainy or worse on Saturday, we will have a limited workday that
would end before noon. Or we may have none at all. Please use your best
judgment to determine if you want to be working outside in rainy
conditions.
If you have an AC powered drill driver that operates at speeds of up
around 2500 rpm, we could sure use it. An AC powered drill that operates
at around 2500 rpm would be useful as well. We do have AC power on site.
If you have a 6 foot, or preferably 8 or more foot folding ladder, we
could use it too!
Also, please let me know if any of you are available to help out in the
week. Thursday afternoons are best. However, we may be able to meet at
the site at other times as well. We'd really like to get this roof
project wrapped up, so any and all help is appreciated.
Bring work gloves, full shoes or boots, clothing appropriate for the
weather, water and a snack if you like.* *
We'll probably work till about noon or so. If it is raining badly or all
over the area, or the forecast is for such, we'll cancel this workday.
Feel free to call Bill Bussey at 919 545-9104, as late as 8 a.m., to
verify a go or no go. However, if you aren't comfortable with the
forecast, use your best judgment and join us or not as you prefer.
Please let Curt Devereux <mailto:devereux at gte.net> 919 919 544-3948
