Hi Volunteers for the American Tobacco Trail,

This is to remind you of our American Tobacco Trail workday, *Saturday,
March 25*, on the American Tobacco Trail at the White Oak Church Road
Trailhead <http://www.triangletrails.org/DIRECTIONS.HTM> at 9 a.m.

Please join us, Saturday, March 25 at 9 a.m. at the White Oak Church
Road Trailhead <http://www.triangletrails.org/DIRECTIONS.HTM> in Wake
County. Scroll down the page to find the directions. Note, there may be
a shorter way to get to this trailhead from Cary, but the roads are
under construction in this area so our directions read from NC 751.

Also note, that if you arrive after 9:10 or so, the work group may have
driven over to the Green Level Church Road trail intersection in order
to save about a ten minute walk down the trail with gear. To get to
Green Level Church Road from the parking area, drive out of the parking
area, turn right, go to the T intersection of Green Level Church Road,
turn right, go about 1/4 mile, to Ferrell Road on your left. Turn left
and park on the shoulder of Ferrell Road. The trail crossing is
immediately after the Ferrell Road intersection.

Our main focus will be to clear and clean this next phase of the Wake
County portion of the ATT of brush, downed trees, overhanging branches,
trash and junk. We'll be clearing and cleaning the trail itself as well
as the adjoining drainage ditches on this section of the trail that is
hoped to be under construction this summer.

At this writing, the weather on Saturday is supposed to be fair and
cool. However, if it is rainy or worse on Saturday, we will have a
limited workday that would end before noon. Or we may have none at all.
Please use your best judgment to determine if you want to be working
outside in rainy conditions.

Bring work gloves, full shoes or boots, clothing appropriate for the
weather, water and a snack if you like.* *You will need to sign a waiver
and participation list.

While you don't have to bring any tools because we'll mainly need
"haulers and toters", we do have a wish list of tools if you'd like to
bring them.

Feel free to bring a small hand pruning saw if you like. Loppers are
always needed as well. Also, a wheelbarrow is always handy if you can
haul it to the site.

If you have a pole saw to reach overhanging limbs, and care to bring it,
then we can use it too.

We can also use a pickup truck that you don't mind hauling brush and
logs in. The bed will get dirty with brush and sawdust. We'll brush it
out at the end of the day, but experience shows brushing alone won't get
it all. Only a washing or vacuuming will get the bed completely clean.
Again, this is your call. If you have any concerns about using your
truck, then don't offer it!

We'll probably work till about noon or so. If you can work later, that
would be great too!

If it is raining badly or all over the area, or the forecast is for
such, we'll cancel this workday. Feel free to call Bill Bussey at 919
545-9104, as late as 8 a.m., to verify a go or no go. However, if you
aren't comfortable with the forecast, use your best judgment and join us
or not as you prefer.
