Hi folks,

Summer is heating up, and so are plans for the Carolina Tarwheels
Bicycle Club's 2006 BikeFest, on Saturday, August 12. Once again TRTC
will staff the ride's rest stop at Walnut Grove Methodist Church in
northern Orange County. Once again I need at least 6 volunteers to help
provide refreshments for the thirsty cyclists. A four hour commitment,
from 7:45 to 11:45, would be optimal. Shorter shifts negotiable.

This is a great opportunity to publicize the work of TRTC among hundreds
of BikeFest participants. Bike riders and their families are natural
candidates for a fine facility like the ATT. The Tarwheels club has, on
occasion, generously bestowed financial grants on TRTC.

What to bring:
- Yourself!

Optional items to bring:
- Official TRTC tee-shirt, sunscreen, hat, comfortable shoes
- Food tray, cutting board, kitchen knives (for apples, bananas,
oranges), home baked cookies, zucchini bread :)
- Ice chest, drink cooler (The Tarwheels will issue 4 coolers), pail/bucket
- Truck/van, cell phone

Our schedule on Aug. 12:
7:45 a.m. Meet me at the Rec Center, on Hassell St. @ W. Tryon St., 2
blocks west of downtown Hillsborough, to load provisions into trucks/vans.
8:15 a.m. Drive out to Walnut Grove UMC, 7215 Walnut Grove Church Rd.,
Hurdle Mills (actually northern Orange Co.), set up canopy, tables, fruits,
drinks.
8:30 a.m. Late arriving volunteers could meet us directly at Walnut
Grove.
9:15 a.m. Expect the first ravenous, thirsty cyclists to arrive.
Noonish Vacate as 2nd shift arrives, head for home for our own
personal rest stops.

Thanks for being willing to help out!
