HI Volunteers for the American Tobacco Trail,
This message is to remind you of our American Tobacco Trail workday,
tomorrow *Saturday, November 18*, the American Tobacco Trail at
the Fayetteville Road Trailhead
<http://www.triangletrails.org/DIRECTIONS.HTM> at 9 a.m.
Please join us, tomorrow* Saturday, November 18* at 9 a.m. at the
Fayetteville Road Trailhead
<http://www.triangletrails.org/DIRECTIONS.HTM> in southern Durham about
3/4 mile south of Southpoint Mall. Scroll down the web page to find the
directions .
*Directions: *
From Exit 276 on I-40, go south toward Southpoint Mall, pass Southpoint
Mall on your right, go about 3/4 mile (1 mile from I-40) The parking
area is on the driveway on the right IMMEDIATELY before the cement
bridge. If you cross the cement bridge and the entrance of Chancellor's
Ridge, you've gone too far.
Our plan is after meeting at the parking area, to drive/walk up to
Massey Chapel Road and begin installation of some traffic control
bollards and cable gate so that unauthorized motor vehicles cannot
driven or towed onto the trail. We'll probably pick up some trash or
junk in the area as well. And we'll be helping nearby TRTC member and
local trail advocate Dave Connelly install some new very heavy doors for
a fence he is building.
Bring *work gloves*, *full shoes or boots*, *long pants*, and other
clothing appropriate for the weather, *water and a snack* if you like.*
*You will need to sign a waiver and participation list.
We can use additional post hole digger tools if you have them. A bolt or
cable cutter is needed as well. If you can bring either of these tools,
please let Bill Bussey <mailto:billbus at gte.net> 919 545-9104 know as
soon as you can. We may be renting a post hole auger if the group
decides it is warranted.
We'll work till about noon or so. However, some of us may work beyond
noon till about 1 or so if we need to finish things up.
The weather is supposed to be clear and cool on Saturday. Please dress
appropriately.
If you or your group would like to work days or early evenings other
than Saturdays, please let Bill Bussey <mailto:billbus at gte.net> know.
Please let Curt Devereux <mailto:devereux at gte.net> 919 919 544-3948
Frank Bennett <mailto:FJB675 at hotmail.com> 919-851-3992 or Bill Bussey
<mailto:billbus at gte.net> 919 545-9104 know if you have any questions.

Also if you haven't already, please go sign our petition
<http://www.petitiononline.com/att2/petition.html>asking Durham to stop
stalling on designing and building the American Tobacco Trail.
*Again, THANK YOU for all of your support for this petition and the ATT.*
One more bit of news. The final phase of the ATT in Wake County, from
the White Oak Church Road Parking area north to the Chatham County line,
is *NOW UNDER CONSTRUCTION.* We heard this week that the anticipated
date of completion is now mid December. Many of you on this list have
helped clear and clean this section. *Thank YOU! *
Also, we need your help in our Food Lion MVP Shop and Share program. In
your MS Internet Explorer browser (sorry Firefox, Mozilla and Netscape
browser users!) go to:
https://www.foodlion.com/IntheCommunity/ShopAndShare/
Here you can go to the appropriate links to register your Food Lion MVP
cards so that the Triangle Rails-to-Trails Conservancy gets some
proceeds from your Food Lion purchases when you use your MVP card. It
doesn't cost you a thing!
This has been useful in the past for us because we've gotten
approximately $30 or so from this. Hey, every bit helps! This year we'll
need to get 25 minimum in the program in order to receive anything, so I
hope you'll register your Food Lion MVP card and help build the ATT.
If you need help with this, contact Bill Bussey <mailto:billbus at gte.net>
at 919 545-9104 with your MVP #, and we'll get it in there.
Thanks for your help and support in building the American Tobacco Trail.
Happy Trails,
Bill Bussey
