Hi Volunteers for the American Tobacco Trail,

This very late message is to remind you that our American Tobacco Trail
workday, tomorrow *Saturday, April 21*, has been canceled. We'll resume
our regular workdays next weekend.

We actually did mention that we would probably not be having this
workday on the calendar at the bottom of this message in previous
reminders. American Tobacco Trail (ATT) workday leaders will be
participating in the Wake County Earth Day Celebration at Harris Lake
Park
<http://www.wakegov.com/parks/harrislake/Harris+Lake+County+Park.htm>,
and the Durham Earth Day Festival <http://www.durhamearthday.org/> at
Durham Central Park, as well as other activities.

If you can't make it to the various Earth Day celebrations, including
the 2007 Walk/Run/Bike for Umstead <http://umsteadcoalition.org/>at
Umstead Park, please get out and do /*something */outdoors. We look
forward to seeing you next week on the ATT in Chatham County.

*However, if you do want to do something on the ATT*, we do *need folks
*to walk or ride the American Tobacco Trail that we maintain and manage
in southern Durham and Chatham counties *to check for storm damage,*
trash, growth of briars and the anything else that could affect the safe
use of the trail.

We got a report a large tree was down across the trail about 1/2 mile
south of Scott King Road. Apparently, it completely blocks the trail. We
are hoping to get to that sometime this weekend.

If you can, please check out other parts of the ATT to see if there is
any other damage from Sunday nights' storms that need to be remedied.
Please contact Bill Bussey <mailto:billbus at gte.net> 919 545-9104 to
report anything of note. Thank you!

*Looking for Help to Open or Close Fayetteville Road Access Gate!*
We are looking for help in opening and closing the gate at our
Fayetteville Road Parking Area
<http://www.triangletrails.org/DIRECTIONS.HTM> in the morning and/or
early evening. If you live near or pass by the Parking area in the
mornings or evenings, or you regularly use the trail here, this might be
a way you can help open this facility and earn some extra money as well.
We are willing to pay a small stipend for this work. If you are
interested in finding out more, or know someone who might be interested,
please contact Bill Bussey <mailto:billbus at gte.net> 919 545-9104.

And let me take this opportunity to* Thank You* for all of your help and
support in building, cleaning and clearing the American Tobacco Trail in
2006 and into 2007. Thanks to your hard work, expertise and diligent
efforts, we are making steady progress. Thousands of trail users are
*now safely using* the sections of the trail and facilities you have
helped clear, clean and build. We get so many wonderful comments and
thanks on how well the trail looks when folks use these facilities.
These trail users are often *amazed* to find out that these improvements
were done completely by volunteers. Thank you for the great work and for
volunteering your valuable time to help with this project. Know that it
wouldn't be possible without the great work of each and every one of you.

Thanks for your help and support in building the American Tobacco Trail.

Happy Trails,

Bill Bussey
