Communications and 9-1-1The Wake County Sheriff's Communications Center, part of the Wake County 911 PSAP (Public Safety Answering Point), is located in downtown Raleigh and is staffed 24 hours a day. The staff of the Communications Center is the first line of contact with the Sheriff's Office for the public calling for assistance. Using state of the art equipment, Sheriff's Office Telecommunicators received and dispatched over 40,000 calls for assistance last year. Wake County enjoys the benefits of "Enhanced 9-1-1", a highly sophisticated system that provides the telecommunicator with the telephone number and address of the calling party immediately after answering the phone. |
